Jukoshin Ryu Jiu-jitsu

Jukoshin Ryu Jiu-Jitsu was founded by Soke Bryan Cheek in 2003.

Jukoshin Ryu Jiu-jitsu is recognized as a modern western martial art, with Japanese origins, and is accepted as such by the International Society of Headfounders and Headmasters.

Jukoshin Ryu Jiu-jitsu - Spirit of Gentle and Strong - Jiu Jitsu is now playing a major role in the family of martial arts. This is due to its very practical, efficient and no-nonsense techniques, devised over some 40 years by Soke Bryan Cheek. With its emphasis on the 5 S's - Skill - Speed - Stamina - Suppleness and Strength, this system appeals to students that require a self-defence strategy that really works.

Jukoshin Ryu Jiu-jitsu also provides a variety of techniques second to none, which enables all types of students to succeed and become proficient in this combat art. Throws, locks, pressure points, strikes, kicks, grappling and weapons training are all included in the vast syllabus available. It uses many traditional techniques, which have been tried and tested, and also many modern combat formulas, which make this style progressive yet proven.

Many Jukoshin Ryu students are from military, police, and penitentiary guards backgrounds and have found the syllabus practical for those dynamic environments.

A uniform standard of training around the world is required of all participants within Jukoshin Ryu Jiu-jitsu, with particular emphasis on all Dan gradings ensuring a worldwide standard at Black Belt level.

Seminars are a great way to see what Jukoshin Ryu Jiu-jitsu has to offer, or to work on the finer details of the syllabus. You need not be an instructor or student of Jukoshin Ryu to host a seminar. If you are interested in hosting a seminar please contact Shihan Jamie Rickard at for information.

Jukoshin Ryu Canada is dedicated to ensuring that all Jukoshin Ryu instructors and students have access to the information they need to learn and progress within this fine art. We are available to assist or conduct gradings as needed and when students are ready, please contact Shihan Jamie Rickard at:
